The online Associate of Science in Space Studies at American Military University introduces you to the exciting field of space studies. Former NASA astronaut Dr. James Reilly, veteran of three shuttle missions and five spacewalks, originally designed AMU’s curriculum. Many of our faculty are leaders in the field, including scientists and engineers currently working for NASA, the space industry, and national astronomical observatories.
As an online program, you can conveniently access the program on your schedule. You will study current and historical concepts in astronomy, planetary science, space policy, and space flight, with hands-on labs in many of your core courses. You will analyze the principles of manned and unmanned flight, examine the possibility of life elsewhere in the cosmos, and evaluate the political and commercial significance of major aerospace endeavors—from the past to the future.
You’ll also have the opportunity to access the university’s state-of-the-art remote-controlled observatory, with a fully online 24-inch f/6.5 Corrected Dall-Kirkham telescope.
Upon successful completion, all 60 credits earned can be put toward AMU’s Bachelor of Science in Space Studies.
