American Military University offers its Master of Science in Environmental Policy and Management program to empower professionals who are dedicated to solving the environmental challenges facing the world today. The environmental policy and management discipline spans a wide scope of prevailing issues as well as the methodologies and the technological solutions used for environmental mitigation and protection.
Students gain a fundamental understanding of the science, politics, industries, and regulations that influence the way governments, agencies, and private organizations conduct planning and resource management. Students examine the latest trends in renewable energy, ecosystems management, the impact of industrialization on the environment, economics and resource availability, regulation and law, environmental ethics, landscape-level conservation, political ecology, and environmental technology and management.
The degree teaches effective research and environmental management skills and serves as an academic foundation for students interested in obtaining related doctorate degrees. Students learn from credentialed environmental scholar-practitioners. Many hold leadership positions at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, the Nature Conservancy, and other government agencies.
